The former Denver Nuggets big men, Nene scored nine points in the final period rookie Bradley Beal scored 20 points and grabbed 6 boards for their third straight win. Toronto, who trailed most of the game, have now lost two of their last three games. Rudy Gay had his worst performance as a raptor, making 1 out of 11 attempts.
Atlanta Hawks 114, Detroit Pistons 103
Point guard Devin Harris made a three pointer to give the Atlanta the lead for good in the first quarter and Detroit never got it back. The Hawks led by as many as 26 in the third quarter. Al Horford had a huge night with 23 points and 22 rebounds, even making a three late in the 4th quarter, his first of the season. Detroit played without rookie Andre Drummond, Will Bynum and Brandon Knight.
Denver Nuggets 118, Los Angeles Lakers 109
The Nuggets, knowing the Lakers were on a back to back, ran the floor every single time. Denver outscored the Lakers 33-3 in fastbreak points, while also outscoring them 78-50 in the paint. Ty Lawson scored 22 points for the Nuggets, Wilson Chandler, who started for the injured Danilo Gallinari had 23 and reserve Corey Brewer added 16. The Lakers, who were on a three game losing streak, couldn’t reach .5o0 for the first time this season.
Boston Celtics 110, Utah Jazz 107 (OT)
Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had to play yet another overtime, but they proved that wasn’t going to slow them down. The duo combined for 5-5 shooting from the field in the extra session for 11 points.
Pierce had a shot to win the game in regulation, but it didn’t fall. It took them a bit longer, but Pierce dominated with timely shots when the Jazz were starting to make a run. Garnett finished the game with 13 points, Pierce added 26. Gordon Hayward scored 26 for the Jazz.
