Daily NBA Recap: Wizards stunned Rockets; Heat win 10th straight - Def Pen Radio
Washington Wizards 105, Houston Rockets 103
The Wizards were trailing by 17, and just like their current season has been when playing contenders, they woke up to the challenge. John Wall made two free throws that gave Washington a two point lead, however, James Harden’s layup tied the game with 21 seconds remaining in the game.
Emeka Okafor’s free throw put the Wizards up again by one, he missed the second attempt but teammate Bradley Beal got the offensive rebound and Harden fouled him intentionally. Wizards rookie went on to also hit one of two, leaving Houston 1.9 seconds to attempt a shot. Trevor Ariza blocked Harden’s final attempt, ending the Rockets chances. Wall finished with 11 assists and Beal had 21 points for Washington.
Denver Nuggets 113, Charlotte Bobcats 99
The Bobcats trailed the Nuggets by nine starting the 4th quarter, but Ty Lawson took over. The point guard scored 9 of his 20 points, along with five assists to lead the Denver for their first win away from home in almost a month.
The Nuggets forced the Bobcats to commit 18 turnovers. Andre Iguodala had a double double with 13 points and 10 assists.
Cleveland Cavaliers 118, Orlando Magic 94
The Cavaliers had two runs to put away the Magic. First they used an 8-0 starting the fourth quarter to lead by 15, then after Orlando scored four points in a row, the Cavs used another 8-0 run to extend their lead to 19. Cleveland had seven players in double figures. Kyrie Irving had 12 points and 9 assists.
Miami Heat 114, Philadelphia 76ers 90
Lebron James added another triple double to his resume with 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his 35th for his career. Dwyane Wade scored 33 points on 11-14 shooting, and the Heat won their 10 straight game.
Miami started the second half on a 25-12 to push their seven point lead to 20. The Sixers didn’t get a chance after that.
Indiana Pacers 90, Detroit Pistons 72
After being humiliated by Indiana on Friday, the Pistons had a chance to beat them, but they went down again. Getting their 4th straight win in the process. Detroit started the game missing 16 of their first 17 shots and had only 9 points in the first quarter.
Danny Granger, who missed the first 55 games of the season, came back from his knee injury and hit a basket in 10 attempts. Paul George had 12 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists for the Pacers, who are now second in the East.
Atlanta Hawks 103, Milwaukee Bucks 102
Monta Ellis went from saving the day, to letting his team down.
His driving layup with 10 seconds left gave Milwaukee a one point lead. But Al Horford answered back by hitting a hook shot. Ellis had a final attempt to win the game, but his running jumper didn’t go down as time expired.
Former Orlando Magic J.J Redick make his Bucks debut and finished with 16 points & 7 assists. Al Horford led the Atlanta with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Los Angeles Clippers 107, Utah Jazz 94
The Clippers wanted to forget the beating the Spurs gave them on Thursday, and they did. Los Angeles started the third quarter scoring the first 14 points of the period, outscoring the Jazz by 16 by the time the quarter ended, putting a stop to the Jazz’s three game winning streak.
Caron Butler scored 21 for “Lob City”, Lamar Odom and Blake Griffin added 18.
