As if there wasn’t enough news this week for ‘The Hunger Games,’ we have one more bit of exciting information. The film will be released in IMAX theaters for a limited one-week run starting March 23rd! While the film was not originally shot in IMAX format it will be digitally remastered beforehand.

I’m not entirely sure how that process works, when films are post-converted to 3D afterwards the quality is disappointing but I assume it is a little easier when it comes to the IMAX format. The film is already predicted to make tons of cash at the box office and this only reaffirms that with IMAX tickets being extremely pricey. I’m sure fans will be lining up opening week to see it on the gigantic screen.

Shooting has already begun in Italy on Carlo Carlei’s adaptation of ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ but it wasn’t until today that we received the full cast list, and it seems this film has lined up an impressive group of actors. Douglas Booth and Hailee Steinfeld (above photo) will be playing the star-crossed lovers, Ed Westwick is stepping in as the villainous Tybalt (that is perfect casting), Paul Giamatti will be Friar Laurence, and youngster Kodi Smit-McPhee will take on Benvolio. We also have ‘Homeland’s Damien Lewis  as Lord Capulet and Stellan Skarsgard joining as Prince Escalus, once again perfect casting in my opinion.

Fun little fact I just noticed, Damien Lewis’ ‘Homeland’ co-star Claire Danes has also starred in a ‘Romeo and Juliet’ adaptation (she played Juliet opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann’s film).

I have to say I am a bit surprised with the casting of Romeo and Juliet being so young, but if I recall, Juliet is supposed to be 14 in the original source material so it seems this film is actually getting it right!

Even though there have been more adaptations of this Shakespeare classic than I can even count, the story never gets old for me and the casting on this one really has me excited. The film is slated for a late 2012 release date, stay tuned for more news!

While Lawrence has been at the forefront for all the promotions thus far, we haven’t seen much of Kravitz. He plays the character of Cinna, a fashion stylist in charge of making over Lawrence’s Katniss before the legendary Games.

For those of you who haven’t read the books, fear not, I can tell you exactly what is going on here! This is moments before Katniss enters the battlefield for the Games, and Cinna, having grown quite fond of her, consoles her before departure. Their relationship became very special in the books and I hope that it is demonstrated in the film adaptation as well!

Take a gander at the first official photo from ‘Skyfall,’ the next installment in the never-ending James Bond franchise. Although there isn’t much to this picture I’m really liking it. Daniel Craig looks great in the role as usual and I’m curious to see where his character is at the moment. Some kind of airplane control room?

Either way, color me intrigued. In ‘Skyfall,’ Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Sounds pretty interesting to me, and according to interviews from cast and crew this entry will stray from the last film (Quantum of Solace) and actually have, ya know, a plot? It’s also racked up an impressive cast of the usuals – Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, along with newcomers to the series – Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith, Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, and more!

‘Skyfall’ is the 23rd entry in the Bond franchise and hits theaters November 9th of this year!

I’m really not sure what to say about this…following in the footsteps of ‘Battleship,’ Hasbro has decided to adapt another one of their board games into a feature film, ‘Candy Land.’ Not only that, they’ve also got themselves a big A-lister to write, produce, and star in it! None other than Adam Sandler, oh how the mighty have fallen. It seems like Adam Sandler is intentionally messing with audiences these days by starring in the worst possible movies (Jack & Jill anyone?). For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone thinks this would be a good idea.

Columbia Pictures is partnering with Hasbro (as well as Sandler’s company Happy Madison Productions) and had this to say about the film, ”Candy Land is more than just a game. It is a brand that children, parents and grandparents know and love. The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam. We are thrilled to partner with Hasbro and Happy Madison on this project.” Yeah…okay.

Look I get it, ‘Battleship’ was maybe a good idea in theory. In fact, the second trailer for the film actually had me excited for it. And at least that game is filled with action and carefully calculated strategies, Candy Land on the other hand is a young child’s game that requires no reading skills whatsoever with fictional characters based on candy. Is there a potential plot in there that I’m missing?

But what do I know right? I’m sure this will make loads of money when all the youngsters drag their poor parents to the theaters for it. No official release date has been announced yet (never, hopefully), so stay tuned for more news as it comes our way.

Take a peek at the new official trailer for the paranormal thriller ’7500′ about a group of passengers aboard a flight across the Pacific Ocean who encounter a supernatural force.

I’m not totally convinced this will be a good movie, but it does seem creepy to be trapped with ghosts on a plane overseas! Not to mention the cast for this film is undeniable. Who doesn’t love Ryan Kwanten from ‘True Blood’ (I hope he keeps his Australian accent for the role)? Pair him with ‘Entourage’s Jerry Ferrara, Amy Smart, Leslie Bibb, and Jamie Chung and you’ve got one dynamite cast!

I’m willing to bet critics will hate this flick (it just seems like an easy target) but it looks like a damn good time at the theaters so count me in.

’7500′ comes from the director of ‘The Grudge’ and creeps into theaters August 31st of this year.

Jennifer Lawrence and director Gary Ross recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly and spoke about ‘The Hunger Games.’ Even though the film has yet to be released (less than 2 months away!), Lionsgate has already greenlit the second installment in the franchise, ‘Catching Fire’

The range in this performance, the emotional terrain that she investigates, the demands of what this role are. It’s such an intensely physical role and an emotional one. She carries the entire movie. To be able to do that at that age is so kind of incredible that I was in a little bit of awe. Do I think she should be nominated? Absolutely…I love the title Catching Fire because from the moment Katniss was willing to eat the berries, the moment she was willing to give her life for something larger than herself, she set off a chain reaction that was at once bigger than her and also because of her. That’s a very exciting movie to make because you’re seeing the emergence of a leader. It’s the birth of a revolution so it has context that’s larger than just the Games themselves.

And how does Lawrence feel about signing on for the whole series:

Signing onto the movies I was like, ‘Well, I’ll probably love the first one and then I’ll just want to get the rest of them out of the way. But I can’t wait to start training. As soon as they were like ‘We need to start training in July,’ I was like ‘Woohoo!’ I can’t wait to get back. Though I don’t know if that’s because I think we might shoot in Hawaii.

Looks like we’ve got some official confirmation on our hands huh? It seems ‘Catching Fire’ will begin shooting as early as this July! And possibly in Hawaii? I think those who have read the books would agree that definitely fits the setting of the 2nd book.

This is one of my most anticipated films of the year and if the confidence in Gary Ross and Jennifer Lawrence’s statements are any consolation, it looks like it won’t disappoint!

As the release date for ‘The Avengers’ gets closer we are treated to more promotional news everyday. Today is no different as we have a first hand look at the special edition 3D glasses participating theaters will be selling for ‘The Avengers.’ It’ll cost you an extra five bucks per pair, which to be honest is a little ridiculous, but I have to admit they are kind of cool.

I especially like that they are character themed to choose from instead of just one. Although once again Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is left out of the mix for unknown reasons. I’m starting to think he’s barely going to be in this movie with all the lack of promotion for his character!

Hopefully theatergoers will have a choice of which glasses they’d like to purchase, that would be a rip off if it were random huh? I guess if I had to pick I’d go with Thor’s, and is it just me or do the Hulk glasses look extremely uncomfortable? Only time will tell.

‘The Avengers’ hits theaters May 4^th. Will you be picking up a pair of these swanky 3D glasses?

I have been waiting for this official news since I saw ‘X-Men: First Class’ in theaters last June. Director Matthew Vaughn has officially struck a deal with Fox and will return for the sequel. This is good news for two reasons: 1- Matthew Vaughn did a fantastic job with the first film, and 2- This most definitely means we will be getting a sequel!

There were some initial doubts after ‘First Class’ under-performed at the box office last year. It was by no means a bomb, but could’ve done a lot better considering it’s outstanding reception from critics and fans alike. Thankfully, everyone has come to their senses and realized we need a sequel! Michael Fassbender killed it as Magneto and I can’t wait to see what Vaughn has in store for part two with this amazing character!

It should be noted there is still no set release date or even any casting news but I’m sure that will be on the way soon enough.

Awards season is in full gear right now and hot off the heels of the Golden Globe Awards we were treated to the 18th Annual SAG Awards tonight. While the show was entertaining, it was a pretty predictable night (as has most of this award season) with the usual suspects taking home the trophies. Although, it was a nice surprise to see Viola Davis take home the trophy for Best Actress, such a heartfelt speech.
