A rep from Peedi’s record label Amalgam Digital has confirmed reports about the former Roc-A-Fella artist facing a gun charge dating back to around 2002. “It’s old charges, from years ago,” the rep told SOHH. “The case finally came up in court. Peedi gave a guilty plea to accept a lesser sentence. With good behavior he should be out on work release early 2009 in time for his album.”
According to the label, the rapper turned himself in on his birthday last Monday, September 22.
Crakk is most known for his work with Philly super group State Property alongside Beanie Sigel and Freeway. Also known for his collaborations with The Roots and DJ Jazzy Jeff, Peedi made headlines earlier this year when he dissed his former boss Jay-Z for droping him from Roc-A-Fella.
“He’s a real disrespectful dude,” Peedi said of Hov during an interview with SOHH. “Jay-Z only knows how to do good for Jay-Z. As far as helping other artists career, he doesn’t have a f*cking clue. Neither does Def Jam.”
Peedi’s debut A Night In Life is scheduled to drop on February 2009.
